MAJOR BASEBALL All players ages 9 to 12 that are not currently on a Major league roster are invited to try out in March every year. The players are scored at tryouts in the areas of running, hitting, throwing, and fielding. Players not currently on a roster are drafted into open slots on each team at the end of March. This Division follows all Little League Rules which uses a 60 foot diamond and a pitching distance of 46 feet. Click on SCOREBOARD for the Teams in this Division.An All-Star Team is chosen of 11-12 year olds in this Division which has the opportunity to advance to the LL World Series in Williamsport, PA. AAA MINOR BASEBALL This division is comprised of 9 to 12 year old players who have completed at least one year of AA Minor Baseball and/or shows the skills to compete at this level and have completed the tryout process but have not been drafted by a major league team. It is hoped by creating this division we will be able to offer a higher level of competition and instruction. This will be a player pitch Division allowing the players to become familiar with the LL rules, develop pitching experience and fine tune their baseball skills. Players from this division will also be available for call up to a major league team if a vacancy occurs at that level.AA MINOR BASEBALL This division is comprised of 7 and 8 year old players who have completed at least one year of Rookie league and are a minimum League Age of 7 years old. It is hoped by creating this division we will be able to offer a level of competition and instruction that will be age and ability appropriate. This movement will also eliminate the prospect of 7 and 8 year olds competing with 11 year olds. Players from this division will also be available for call up to a AAA league team if a vacancy occurs at that level.ROOKIE BASEBALL This is the next step for graduates of the Tee-Ball program comprised of 6 and 7 year old players. Players hit against machine pitched rubber coated baseballs, learn fundamentals, and play in non-competitive games. All players bat in each inning. There are 3 innings per game.TEE-BALL BASEBALL This is an introductory program for boys and girls for their first experience at organized baseball. The Division is set up for players ages 4 to 6 in pre-school and kindergarten who have no previous experience. This is a non-competitive Division that stresses fun, fundamentals and sportsmanship.SENIOR SOFTBALL Little League Senior Softball is open for all players ages 13-16. The Senior softball teams includes players from both the American and National Leagues and comprises all of the City of South Portland. Top of Page JUNIOR SOFTBALL Little League Junior Softball is open for all players ages 13 and 14. The Junior softball teams includes players from both the American and National Leagues and comprises all of the City of South Portland.MAJOR SOFTBALL Major League Softball is for players from ages 9-12.
